New North Seattle College Online Course: Landlord Essentials for Seattle Homeowners

Thinking about renting out a home, condo, or investment property? You should do it! (That’s my Wedgwood rental in the picture above!)

Many Seattle-area homeowners are interested in renting out their homes; whether they're moving, inheriting a property, upsizing, downsizing, or simply looking to build long-term wealth through real estate. But managing a rental property can feel overwhelming when you're trying to navigate tenants, repairs, contractors, maintenance, and ever-changing regulations.

That's why I'm excited to be teaching Landlord Essentials through North Seattle College Continuing Education this summer.

This practical three-session online class is designed to help homeowners and small landlords confidently manage their own rental properties without relying on expensive property management companies. Participants will learn practical systems for managing tenants, coordinating repairs, working with contractors, and protecting their property as a long-term asset.

What You'll Learn

During this three-part course, we'll cover:

  • Practical systems for managing tenants

  • Coordinating repairs and maintenance

  • Working effectively with contractors and vendors

  • Protecting your property as a long-term asset

  • Common landlord mistakes and how to avoid them

  • Strategies for staying organized and reducing stress

Whether you're a first-time landlord, an accidental landlord, or someone looking to improve how you manage an existing rental, this course is designed to provide actionable tools you can start using immediately.

Why I Created This Course

Over the past 17+ years, I've managed rental properties, worked with tenants, coordinated repairs, and navigated the many challenges that come with owning real estate. As a licensed and bonded general contractor and founder of Hire Possibilities Home, I've also seen firsthand how maintenance decisions impact both property value and landlord stress levels. When I got my real estate license Fall 2025 and started talking to brokerages about hanging my license, I quickly realized my values did not align with traditional property management.

My goal is simple: help landlords feel more confident, more organized, and better equipped to manage their investments themselves.
